to kick off 2011 vakant presents romanian rising stars livio and roby, the first new artists to join the label since 2008. after cutting their teeth on some of the biggest labels and world stages, livio & roby impart their excellent deep funk laden grooves on their first record for the perfectionist house of vakant.

after the big succes of hi tech booty, we searched for some really special guys out there to put hand on ahmets bomb. well here it is. a1 comes from maetrik which was a strong desire of ahmet and for sure an excellent choice. he totally brings in his own style while getting a little bit closer to the darkside of the track. a2 is a special collab between rainer, which we know from the last regular stock5 record together with cesare vs disorder and viudez, a mexican guy that seems to have a very nice influence to the production style. the vocal is very present but placed, arranged and transformed geniously. for sure a weapon! b1 is written by our special friend chris sylvester aka inxec. starting with a very housy groove, it falls quickly into a hypnotic mood that is unique in inxec productions. he really knows what the dancefloor requires and for this we are very happy to have him again in our release roster. b2 presents a very new and fresh artist called rico casazza. he interprets the track in a very detroit way, works verz little with the vocal but hits it very perfectly for the sense of the track. after this debut on our imprint you can be sure to hear more of this young guy in the next time!!!

and again the ostwind crew welcome a new artist on their sub label ostwind limited. sandru lives in cologne and raised with music as a son of a bassist. he played drums and piano in his childhood and made the first steps with techno at the age of 15. now the 24 years old sandru releasing his first track called >late night stories<. raw minimal beats und clicks, combined with a dirty rolling bass and a building hookline will give you some warmness in these winter days. a good start by sandru and we looking forward to his next releases on ostwind. to make this record perfect we have two pretty tracks from our friend from sofia, ataneus. well known for his productions on ostwind, subotnik and ackerdub, ataneus shows again his talent for emotional and very deep going stuff. en echolon and spectral class have this typical warm bass and arrangements from ataneus. forward groovin techhouse styled up with markant pinpointed melodies. also music to fuse the ice from the house top oft he club.

early support from locodice, matthias tanzmann, gregor tresher, dubfire, nic fanciulli! new japanese dance music label, arpa records is launching as its first release very own label boss dj sodeyamas techno track >miles<. previously having released on respected labels zenit, ante zenit and more recently on labels archipel, kumo, we are, dj sodeyamas tracks feature a wide range of musical dimensions and have gained much credibility and interest from djs worldwide. the original mix features ontop of some heavy minimal beats and an expanding rhythm, a poetry reading by richard spitzer and a deep but solid synth groove. 8bit and cecille label boss nick curly takes the other side into a trade mark remix featuring some long breaks but kept together by some solid groovy rhythms throughout.

japan based, multi-instrumentalist, max essa, has done it again for us here in the bearfunk forest. his splendid second album >white shoes, blue dreams< has pleased the public and reviewers alike. the >midnight and dub direction ep< takes some of the albums finer moments and gives them a more dance-floor friendly, dubby makeover.

this is the third single taken from boohgaloo zoos devastatingly good self-titled debut album. >i got< is a relentless disco groover while >come to this< is a slow-mo exotica house bomb (whatever that may mean) with some hints of exotica. two fat and funky joints. this time, the remixes are courtesy of mugwump and aardvark. mugwump takes the original and turns it into an electrifying discoid tour de force. aardvark does his thing, which lately means taking a song, and giving it an electronic shock treatment. those who like forward thinking electronic music will go bananas for this one. post >nameyourfavourite<?

doppelschall is back! the label of brand brauer and frick with another strong forward thinking house release. its paul frick doing a solo with emika and come up with some sweet warm sounding song with a great funky groove and sexy vocals. dollkraut comes up with a more then excellent remix that sounds like dick dale & the del tones doing a house mix... killer track with much pop appeal! akufen goes all deep house with warm chords and laidback vibe.

terrence parker presents music works volume # 1 (catalog pmw001) is a special project featuring tps favorite picks from his parker music works label featuring house fused with disco, funk, soul, gospel and jazz. tp chose these 3 tracks not only because he likes them personally, but they were also among the most requested tracks by tp fans for a vinyl release. the a side features tps gospel-disco-house production of >let your love show< which was produced in 2010. the b side features a jazz-house fusion track entitled >soul juice< by dj leandre of paris, france. also featured on side b is a disco-house stomper entitled >lets get some love< produced by matt veloce who is a new producer from minneapolis, usa. for fans who like the sound of tps classic tribute ep, this special release is a must have!

erell ranson is based in the north of france and has already released memorable records on arne weinbergs aw-recordings, as well as on his own myself label. he expresses his personality through these soulful productions, and this new release on adepth demonstrates how his great talent has developed even further. each track on the new everything needs to be clear ep is an individual musical journey in its own right. the 4 track ep begins with erells original version of >everything needs to be clear<. its combination of gentle chords with electro beats is the foundation of the musical ideas explored throughout this release. the second track, >so strange to explain<, is deeper and an adventurous fusion of dark, intense tones, swirling beats and insistent percussion. on the flipside, canadian rennie foster remixes the title track, and delivers a fine piece of modern dancefloor techno which respects the key elements of title track. erells >sandcastle< closes the ep, and its sophisticated yet punchy bassline and fragile synths recall some classic early 90s productions.

composite family welcomes feygin, a guy influenced by prince, the beatles. louie vega, jimpster, herbie hancock, jazztronik, dop, will smith, billy joel and woddy allen. he loves anything that flows smoothly, whether its into his ear or into his belly. feygin comes from a family where everyone played some sort of instruments. yet, he never learned to play anything himself. about 2 years ago he decided he will make dance music, or his own interpretation of it. so far he is doing well. you can call his style an eclectic mix of dance music and its various sub genres. as long as it grooves, feygin is on it. at some point in his life, he d like to be able to collaborate with real live musicians, and really push dance music to its boundaries

thomas fehlmann is integral to kompakt and the labels history. his solo releases and collaborative work with alex patterson as the orb have been some of the kompakts most revered and cherished tunes. following the success of his 2010 full length gute luft (a collection of re-edited versions from his score to the hit documentary 24hr berlin), we start 2011 off with titan one / dfm. on october 16, 2010 thomas fehlmann performed in montreal, canada at the historic molson coors brewery building together with members of the montreal symphony orchestra (osm). together they sought to recreate a version of gustav mahlers classic symphony no. 1 (titan). kompakt is proud to now offer a new recording inspired by that epic concert of symphonic and electronic with a new recording inspired from that performance – renamed as titan one. the hum of cellos and strings conjoin fehlmanns electronics – held together by the sublime, unobtrusive thump of a bass drum. titan one flows with a beauty and edacity that is rarely heard in both classical and electronic music form. the b-side features a new recording inspired from the second piece of the performance - a new version of thomas fehlmanns du fehlst mir from his 2006 kompakt full length visions of blah. reanimated as dfm, the piece again conjoins the different musical worlds in a way we have never heard to such a high standard. a much more upbeat affair than to titan one (of course) bass and keyboards mingle with the symphony the playfulness of the original song rolls throughout dfm. whether as palais schaumberg, the orb, or 3mb (to name only a few alias). fehlmann may have 3 decades of professional recordings under his belt but he continues to prove to the world as being one of the most fascinating and creatively open musicians in his field. this release clearly proves his story is far from over.

whats my name, the latest single from the bajan songstress rihanna, is not a cover of the clashs 1977 punk classic, but finds riri taking a detour from the dancefloor-scorching grooves of only girl to craft a steamier cut which draws its heat from her short-lived, but much-buzzed-about relationship with the t-dot heavyweight. here, the upbeat synth boardwork of stargate sets the stage for a heaping helping of innuendo from both collaborators, drizzy handles verse one, sing-rapping his way through a double-entendre-peppered opener (the square root of 69 is (eight/ate) something… right? cause i been tryin to work it out.), and rihanna responds in kind, lacing her verses and chorus with some playful come-ons of her own. digging this catchy ode to young love/lust? then be sure to grab a copy of this vinyl and the heavy remixes it has.

once again leng deliver with a lovely bit of heavy electronic stompery. tiagos >the source< goes straight for the dark end of the dancefloor and wallows in the smokey acidic enivirons of the late night moody corner ! with a punchy throbbing bass, hefty beats, tons of spacey effects and some awesome delayed hi hats to really mess your head, this is in the box for the strobe light moment. on side-b >mudds slow rave mix< turns up the acid a few notches, somehow gets even swampier in the bottom end and slightly more whacked out on the fx, add a lovely niggling synth line for a dark heavy dancefloor work out.

crazy p return to 2020vision with their first new material since the stop space return album. the mts series is a chance for jim & chris to get back to basics and produce some club tracks for their in demand dj sets, before they reconvene with the rest of the band for their next album. already making waves with both of their soloexcursions (ron basejam and hot toddy), they team up here for two perfect examples of their trademark disco and house vibes. crazy p are quite rightly held in great esteem from some of the hippest names around, wolf & lamb, jamie jones and tensnake to name three. they have been ploughing their own deep disco furrow for many years waiting for fashion to catch them up, and now can take the plaudits for being figureheads of this uk scene. my love is a superb raw house cut, thats custom built for sweaty basement sessions, influenced by classic us house. make me wanna takes a moreunk riffs and diva vocals. both of superb examples of the amazing crazy p sound and have had unanimous glowing feedback from the few people lucky enough to have heard them so far

the energetic >coconut coast< is an awesome example of whats coming from oriol, and he has bought some remixers along for the party too. faltydl brings the tempo down and gives the track a strange off key shuffling rub thats reminiscent of theo parrish at his oddest. mike paradinas in his jake slazenger guize, does a mix of >memories< thats almost funky house, mixed with big rubbery jazz chords and classy diva vocal samples. shortstuff takes >memories< and draws it into strange new shapes over stiff beats.

shakarchi & straneus are faik and daniel, two bffs from gothenburg who are making some of the most catchy, emotional and well crafted dance music we have heard in a long time. both had been involved in music for a while when they started working together at their hometowns top tapas joint, manana. in between washing dishes and serving patatas bravas, the boys would burst out short tracks and sound experiments in the makeshift studio they had set up inside mananas cloakroom. this led to a debut 12 inch on malmo based geography recordings and now comes their five track ep >dodskallar och korallrev<: studio barnhus second release, the best swedish house record since jesper dahlbacks >what is the time mr. templar?<, something we are immensely proud of being able to release.

aaah lovely dovely, its that time of year again, the city is covered in snow, chestnuts are a roastin and wee little elves are working away busily pressing the annual home sweet home compilation for your listening and dancing pleasure. yep, its nearly that time of year again, the famed hsh new years rave at the arena/treptow in berlin is just around ye corner. yay! this year we have invited some dj and producer friends from berlin that are playing at the party to contribute to the compilation too! the lovely frenchmen shonky who has played at a few of our shindigs since moving to berlin and is known for his funky techno style has even named his track on a1 >madame moustache<, how very sweet ! snapping at his heels on b2 is our good friend from way up north (maybe he knows santa) and also a berlin resident agaric with his kicking track >after it all< which we are very pleased about. the flipside features some of our homies jens bond and tigerskin with a furious track on b1 followed by nico stojan our little bar 25 flirt with a nice melodic house track on a2 to round things off nicely.

the latest from thesongsays brings back one of our main players - bruno pronsato. whats he been up to you might ask? aside from completing his album lovers do, working on music with thomas melchior and daze maxim and putting out records as pubic lover with our leading lady ninca leece, not much… maybe hes been in the rafters sipping coffee or understudying for bigger roles. who knows. nonetheless he’s back. these two new tracks come from his upcoming lp, lovers do. its a single, sort of. but not really. because when has bruno ever done a single like we know a single? this 12-inch is about as far as you could get from club fodder. rather, its a pair of subtle grooves to soundtrack you cutting carrots, sipping whiskey, or dancing at some intimate afterhours spot

apple pips is proud to present another original new talent from the bristol bass underground - orphan101. having cut his teeth on bristol pirate radio with headhunter aka addison groove, orphan101 surfaced earlier this year with some promising releases on saigon and his own decarhythm label, one of several new labels in bristol (along with if symptoms persist, idle hands, & subdepth) to be pushing a varied and seemingly boundary less take on bass music.

if you are looking for something that is bite sized, but with huge flavor, then you best try out our >bite sized beats vol. 2<. i m sure you will find that it is extremely satisfying and many levels. there are many more of this series to come, so keep some room in the fridge for some of this future fried funk.

flapjack records prodigal son wattie green returns with a devastatingly surly stomper of an ep entitled the >bottle of justice ep<. this marks wattie greens third vinyl release on flapjack records and certainly shines above the rest of his big swill releases. it is great to get drunk with an old friend again, so sit back and throw this sip of whiskey on the decks and enjoy some true southern comfort.

top release !! raw analog beauty !! after some great releases on pastamusik we welcome the analog roland orchestra to the polymorph family. you will find some raw analog detroit techno with the dark atmosphere of the legendary roland classics. the original works in favour of a long evolving wave of sound with a broad spectrum of powerfull techno. on the flipside the reshape mix of >timespaceroom< is much more on the tougher side of things with bold basslines, spooky voices and tough chords. amazing quality in sound and recording makes this a pleasure to listen to. special colored vinyl

the debut release by molly wagger is the single >weekend<. the original mixes a forlorn and melancholy vocal with an uplifting major 7th piano driven backing. to complete the release we also include the live favourite >molly<, an ode to one of the band members cat. all elements are tinged with a grey-skied but undeniably optimistic scottish pulse which makes it all the more an interesting listening experience.
richard norris in his time and space machine guise take things into 12 inch territory with his remix on the flip side. we gave him the balearic brief and true to form that is exactly what he has delivered, a touch of granite and dark edinburgh afternoons mixed with some ibizan post sunset haze.
